The older Fairbanks/Morse Magneto's were equipped with a tar taped Coil originally. These Coils looked just like a pile of tape rolled into a ball. Before F/M realized they had a problem with this particular Coil, they had over 1 million Magneto's out there with this troublesome Coil in it! To upgrade these failing leaky Coils in Magneto's that were already in service, Fairbanks release this Coil which was an epoxy type sealed Coil. This Coil surpassed the original tar taped Coil for reliability and longivity. If your Magneto has an original tar taped Coil in it, get rid of it!  Put in one of our HD replacement Coils, and don't look back.....Replaces F/M P/N- R2477C
